Another big change for me in 2018

Several months ago I overheard someone say "your life doesn’t come with a script.” That saying stuck with me, but I didn’t think about it too much until a few weeks ago.

Earlier this year I decided to make a significant career change by leaving my long-term employer and relocating to southern California from Oregon for a new opportunity. It was a fantastic experience in many ways, and I was fortunate to meet some wonderful people along the way.

I am now looking for a new career opportunity. This is scary on some levels, but exciting on others. I’m going to take a bit of time to figure things out and decide what to do next. Fortunately, my wife and I have a lot of flexibility to pursue new opportunities wherever they might take us. Choosing to leave our roots in Portland earlier this year was a difficult decision, but I still believe it was the correct one. Change is good, but it can be difficult at times like these when yet another path opens up that you didn't see on the horizon.

This also feels like a good time to thank many of you who shared advice during my initial move. Having a strong network of colleagues and friends is so valuable.

Since there is no script, I’ll keep you all updated as this new journey unfolds!
